Hi All,

This morning, an image on the television, made me think of the implications of being both blind and deaf.

How cut off we would be if we could hear absolutely nothing and then see nothing of the wonders of God’s creation.

These two senses are so valuable to us; but there are many who have never had or who have lost one or both of theses senses.

Can you imagine the solitude, privacy,  loneliness, the isolating nature of absolute silence;

or the restricting, oppressive, confining, stifling, the suffocating nature of total blindness. Think about it for a moment or two.

Despite all this being very true I remember the character of an elderly Christian lady called Cathleen, who lived in a care home, who was both blind and deaf.

I leaned to communicate a little by touching parts of her hand but it was very basic.

She could just speak, but found it very difficult, as really deaf people are often dumb, especially if the have never heard speech.

Cathleen was very gracious, loved the Lord with her whole heart, was extremely contented and a real challenge to all who knew her.

“Godliness with contentment is great gain” I Tim 6v6

How Godly are we?    How content are we with our lot in life ? How submissive are we to the will of our gracious God?

Only you can answer these questions.

Please take some time to consider these verses

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I Tim 6 v6-12
