Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth KJV

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you Col. ESV

Therefore  consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality… NASV

So put to death your worldly impulses: ISV

Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth. NKJV

Here is a duty for all Christians. It is a life long work. It is an everyday work.

We are to “Mortify” or “Put to death” that which is sinful in us.

We are to deprive Sin of its power, destroy its strength, and keep all of our being under dominion; so that we are well pleasing unto God. The “Old Man” continually strives and wars against the “New Man” in Christ Jesus.Roms 7.

It is spiritual warfare within us and we need to put on the whole armour of God so that we overcome. Eph. 6  We need to “Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Gal 5 v 16.

How is your battle going? Are you winning? How is your progress in Sanctification?

Here is some encouragement for you in the heat of the day or the depths of the night…

Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40 v 30-31
