Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Pr 3 v 7 : 11-12

If God is our Father and we are his children we should fear the Lord and depart from evil.

What progress are we making in Godliness? Are we overcoming sin in our lives?

Some sins are open and manifest to all, some sins are secret sins known only to us, but with God nothing is hid.

What do you know of the Lord’s chastening at the moment? are you being corrected?

If so be submissive, let the Lord have His perfect way in you, for He delighteth in you.

Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

1972 – American Presbyterian apologist Francis Schaeffer wrote in a letter:

‘I have come to the conclusion that none of us in our generation feels as guilty about sin as we should or as our forefathers did.

‘IF we truly and rightly FEAR God and TREMBLE at His Presence, His Absolute Holiness and Power: we would be much more careful of all our conduct in His Sight and not Sin wilfully with a high hand and treat Him with the flippancy, familiarity and disrespect that many do.’   jgmtheo
