C H Spurgeon preached for 38 years Faithfully, Biblically, Earnestly, and in a way that was owned and used of God. He preached his last sermon on this day in 1891 and went to be with his Lord in January 1892.
BUT his ministry did not end there !! though he be dead, yet he speaks through the many published sermons that were collected into books and are still published now, some are even read at places such as "sermonaudio" and can be listened today at any time. Are we  encouraged by this? Is it part of our Prayer life to pray for blessing on the many sermons that are read and listened to by people today which were originally preached long ago?
The most notable examples, are, of course those sermons that are published abroad in the Bible, the Word of God. How many have been greatly challenged by our Lord’s Sermon on the Mount? by the preaching of the parables and the Sermons of Paul the Apostle.
It is not enough though, only to look back to sermons of previous generations however great they be, we must be preaching and living out Christian testimonies today.

Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. Matt 9 v 37-38

It is our duty to be faithful to our generation, the results, the success or otherwise is to be left with God.

Are we so encouraged by the past, that we press forward in the present, and wait with expectation for the future?
