GOD’S WONDERFUL SALVATION

GOD’S WONDERFUL SALVATION

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
1 Peter 1:18-21

Forasmuch as ye know.  You can be very sure because the scripture says so and because you can know through personal experience.

that ye were not redeemed.  Christ bought us back and  set us free; rescued us by paying the ransom required by God the Father because of our sins

with corruptible things, as silver and gold,  not with things that perish and are of no real value. Silver and Gold are the world’s currencies but our souls are immortal and need be redeemed by that which is of infinitely more value. The allusion is to the redemption of the people of Israel, and of the firstborn, by shekels, Exodus 30:12-13  Numbers 3:46-48 but these are not able to deliver the souls from the bondage of corruption.

from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; the kind of  life handed down from their fathers which was empty and worthless, never able to obtain righteousness by the law or have the ability to set aside the affects of sin.

But with the precious blood of Christ,   the Blood of Christ is the same blood as ours, for he was truly man, but without any stain of sin. Christ is also God manifest in the flesh able to make a sufficient and acceptable sacrifice unto God, well pleasing and precious unto God the Father.

as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: fulfilling the Old Testament types, especially the paschal lamb, the Passover lamb, and the Lamb for the sin offering. None could be as perfect as Christ who truly was without any blemish or spot of any kind.

Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, God’s eternal plan, made before the world was created, was for Christ to redeem a people and bring them to Himself, by being their redeemer, mediator, and advocate, their great high priest who entered into the heavenly places bearing in his body the wounds of His suffering on their behalf.

but was manifest in these last times for you, revealed and made known to them, made in the likeness of man, a body being prepared for Him, and revealed to us through the Gospel and the preaching of the Word of Truth.

Who by him do believe in God, are enabled by Him to put their trust in God, the way being opened to return to the Father, He is the author and finisher of our Faith.

that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; we read that He raised Himself up, was quickened by the Spirit and that God raised Him up. John 2:19-22 1Peter 3:18  Acts 4:10. The three persons of the Godhead acted together in raising Christ from the Dead but Christ could say John 17:24 “that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.”

that your faith and hope might be in God. because He lives believers shall live also. Faith and Hope are Graces given by God, they cannot be separated, for where true Faith is there is also Hope, because of the resurrection of Christ and the Glory given to Him, we who trust in Christ, can be assured of our resurrection and dwelling with Him in Glory, for we shall be with Him where He is and he has prepared a place for us who trust in Him.
